About Sarajo
I work with individuals aged 13 and up who are seeking a safe, non-judgmental space to begin regaining control over their lives. I have worked with individuals who are going through rough break ups, marriage problems, anxiety and depression to individuals with significant trauma, such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect or abandonment. Their goals often include coping with anxiety, healing from past trauma, building resilience, and creating a healthier future. They seek understanding, practical tools, and emotional support to regain control over their lives and foster a sense of empowerment.
As a licensed social worker, counselor, and qualified mental health professional with a Master's in Social Work from the University of South Dakota and advanced training in EMDR and DBT , I specializes in working with individuals aged 13 and up who have experienced deep trauma, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, and disruptions in family structure.
I named my practice "Josie's Counseling" in honor of my grandmother, who always greeted everyone with warmth, coffee, and cookies. She created a welcoming, safe space for those in need, and I strive to do the same in my office. Just like she did, I want to offer a comforting environment where you feel heard, supported, and at home on your healing journey.

As a foster mom and adoptive parent, I am uniquely qualified to support children involved with Child Protective Services and the foster care system, as well as foster parents. My practice is grounded in a deep commitment to helping individuals heal from trauma and build healthier, more resilient lives.
